Safeguarding

Abbey Hey Primary Academy takes the safeguarding of children very seriously.

The safety and well-being of our children is our key responsibility. We have strict rules on recruitment of teachers and ensure that all adults that work with us are vetted through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We teach our children about how to be safe in the community as well as online.

All of our staff have been trained on dealing with the signs of abuse and they understand the important role they have to play in protecting our pupils from harm. This includes training on the government’s Prevent Strategy. We follow a clear set of procedures when concerns arise and matters are dealt with sensitively.

If you have any concerns about the safety of any child in school or in the community, please speak to our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs T Short

Attendance

All lateness and absences are recorded by the School Administrative Assistant, Mrs Bowcock. Reasons will be sought for all absence or lateness. Attendance is monitored through these systems and referrals to the Safeguarding Team can be made if concerns arise. Parents will always be informed of concerns around attendance at the earliest point.

A child may be at risk of harm if they do not attend school regularly or are consistently late. Safeguarding and child protection will be considered in all instances.

Internet Safety

It is very important that everyone stays safe whilst online.

Over recent years, the use of technology in both school and the home has increased greatly. Whilst this has positive impacts on learning, there are risks associated with children using the internet more widely and for that reason we place great importance on the teaching of e-safety at school.

Children are taught about e-safety in their Computing lessons from when they first start school and we develop their knowledge and understanding as they move further up the school.

Whilst we do all that we can to ensure the safety of children on the internet, it's essential that parents and carers continue this at home. There are a number of links below to support with this.

If you or anyone you know is worried about Child Exploitation, Online Protection or anything related to Internet safety, please click the image above which will take you to the CEOP reporting website.
